Song Demo: I accidentally wrote a circa 2000 Something For Kate song

I came up with this song on a morning run and recorded and mixed it before lunch. Kind of sounds like I accidentally recorded a Something For Kate song from circa 2000. Which is interesting because this song is about how much has changed since then.

This is one of those things I write which seems to have no viable outlet in my existing projects (of which I already have at least one too many), so if anyone wants to record and release it, lemme know.

The lyrics:
You read one book and you knew everything
You read 10 and knew nothing at all again
But Would you want to go back?

In 2010 you said let’s listen to them
In 2020 no-one’s listening to you anymore
Would you want to go back?

Flowers bloom
Dead Leaves fall
Something’s gotta die
For something else to be alive

17 saying nobody cares about us
37 now you got other things on your mind
But would you want to go back

You’re always saying it was simpler then
When most of us couldn’t even get a look in
Do you want to go back

Flowers bloom
Dead Leaves fall
Something’s gotta die
For something else to be alive
Would you want to go back
Do you miss what you lack
If you consider the facts
Would you wanna go

In your 20s you had so much time
Now you see your baby open her eyes and you’re tired
But would you want to go back
